The Lodge and Scouting
Impeesa Lodge, due
to its members' connections with the Scout
Movement, regularly supports the work its members undertake in Scouting locally,
principally in the City and County of Bristol, Berkshire, Devon, Gloucestershire,
Somerset and Cornwall.
Members of Impeesa
Lodge contributed towards a gift of £8,000 to the Scout Association
to enable the refurbishment of Lord Baden-Powell's touring caravan. This was
presented to Baden-Powell by the movement in 1928 to mark the 21st Anniversary
of Scouting, of which he was the founder.
The donation resulted from an appeal by the Kindred Lodges Association, an
international group of masonic lodges, connected with youth work, particularly
Scouting. There are 39 participating lodges in the Kindred Lodges Association.
The donation will be part of a £20 million redevelopment of Gilwell
Park, the Scout Association National Headquarters and International Campsite.
This will be a major attraction during the UK-hosted 2007 World Jamboree:
100 years after Baden-Powell's first experimental camp at Brownsea Island.
